8/15/06 -- Stations 33 & 34 put New MSA SCBA's Into Service

8/15/06  --  Stations 33 & 34 have now placed into service new MSA FireHawk SCBA's. The SCBA's were purchased from Meoul Enterprises. A decision was made in the early part of 2006 to make a switch to a new SCBA brand due to service-repair issues with our older brand of Scott SCBA. Twenty-four SCBA's were purchased through the Tyrone Fireman's Relief Association. The new MSA packs have many new safety features, including a HUD ( Heads Up Display) unit in the face piece to show the air level in the cylinders, a buddy breather attachment on each pack, and a quick fill hose on each piece of apparatus for quick filling in a "firefighter down" situation. Also purchased were four 1 hr. cylinders. Also placed into service was an upgrade to the cascade on Rescue 33. The older 4500 psi bottles were replaced with 6000 psi bottles to accomodate the new high pressure SCBA's. The upgrade to the cascade was purchased by the Tyrone Fireman's Relief Association.
