21:45 Hrs. -- Station 33 was dispatched for Rescue 3338 to assist Centre Co. Station 13 (Sandy Ridge) for a heavy rescue assignment on Rt. 350 north at the top of Sandy Ridge Mountain. Rescue 33 responded with a crew of 9 with Capt. 3305 (D.Hoffman) riding the officers position. Upon arriving on scene, Rescue 33's crew encountered multiple crews working a heavy duty entrapment which appeared to be a tractor trailer vs. a passenger car. The tractor had came to rest on top of the passenger car crushing the car under it. First arriving crews on scene had already determined that there was 1 deceased male victim, but it was unknown if he was the only occupant of the passenger car. Crews went to work lifting the tractor off of the car to determine if there was any other occupants. Capt. 3305 received orders from command (Asst.Chief 1302) to assist with airbag operations. All available cribbing and airbags off of Rescue 33 were placed into operation along with the equipment from 3 other rescues also operating on the scene. Eagle Towing & Recovery from Milesburg was summoned to assist with the lift. After it was determined that the deceased was the only occupant, the entrapment operation was switched to a recovery operation. Once recovery was completed, command placed Rescue 33 back in service. Rescue 33 picked up and returned home at 23:59 hrs.
